My Glowing Plants
- Radiant Plants Casting Hues Unseen During Daylight Hours
So, guess what? I recently got my hands on some amazing long-wave LED flashlights, and they’ve opened up a whole new world—fluorescent plants! Back in the day, when we were using those mercury-based lamps, I noticed a few plants giving off a subtle glow. Lichens were the real show-stoppers, shining the brightest. But let me tell you, they never held a candle to the fluorescent brilliance of rocks. Well, that’s all changed now! Those lichens? They’re practically on fire, and common plants are giving even the most dazzling minerals a run for their money.
And let’s talk about variety—these everyday plants are showcasing colors, gradients, and subtleties I never expected. They truly surprised me!
I was so wowed that I snapped a few quick pics with my trusty smartphone. I admit, the quality isn’t top-notch. I had grand plans for the perfect shots with a tripod and all the bells and whistles. But, life happened, and my partner and I went our separate ways. The flowers took a hit, the house got sold, and I found myself in a new place—sans my radiant plant buddies.
That rock garden, though, was something special! It had the best of both worlds: vibrant plants and a petrified wood stump that lit up like a disco ball, covered in beautiful lichens. I dreamed of capturing that fluorescent dream combo, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
Looking ahead, fluorescent plants will be the shining stars of my fluorescent adventures! I promise to give them the photographic justice they deserve. But until then, feast your eyes on these quick snaps.

A Broader Perspective
Mineral fluorescence is fascinating, especially for us rock enthusiasts. But you know what’s even cooler? Fluorescent plants, corals, shells, and glass—they’re expanding my horizons as a nature lover.
Honestly, I haven’t seen any fluorescent mineral specimen that can hold a candle to that lichen-covered petrified wood stump from my old rock garden. That combo was pure magic. While some collectors might have scrubbed off the lichens, I certainly didn’t!
Back in the day, I might have been all about chasing rare fluorescent minerals, but not anymore! There’s a whole universe of wonder and joy in exploring the fluorescent world in all its glory, letting its beauty and magic fill me with childlike joy. ✨
Cheers,
