Why Collect?
- Here’s a Reason!
What an enchanting scene outside my loft window! There’s nothing quite like enjoying it with a generous mug of steaming coffee, all snuggled up in something cozy. The world transforms into a winter wonderland, and come nightfall, the polarizing moonlight casts a magical spell with its interplay of fog, stars, glistening snow, and delicate hoar frost. It’s almost otherworldly—too incredible to fully grasp—and I’ve been reveling in every moment of this breathtaking spectacle since Thanksgiving.
Though this season isn’t ideal for my rock-hunting adventures (with zero access to rocks outside, even those piled in my yard), I’ve discovered a delightful way to indulge my love for rocks during winter: my rock collection!
- While appearing unremarkable under natural light, the simple act of holding them brings a sense of satisfaction. And oh, the stories they tell!
These rocks offer a sensory experience. Beyond their visual appeal, each collected rock carries weight, texture, scent, and yes, even a taste. They all come with their unique narratives. It’s fascinating how intricate details emerge when there’s time to truly examine them. I learn so much and derive just as much joy from them now as I did when I first stumbled upon them.
These little souvenirs not only bring back memories but also spark my imagination for other geological possibilities, hinting at exciting collecting adventures when the season aligns.
It might be a while—perhaps another five months—before that happens. Until then, these rocks are within reach whenever I need a fix. This way, I can savor both the winter magic and indulge my rock addiction. And if I ever fancy it, I can always illuminate them for a touch of real winter enchantment! ✨
